More Terrifying Than A Shark Attack

When I was 17 years old I was attacked by a ten-foot long Tiger shark.

We were surfing just south of Cocoa Beach, Florida. It was a big day for Florida, and there were about 100 of us out that day. Suddenly, the guy next to me was attacked by a shark and his leg was torn off. There was blood all over the water. And then many sharks appeared. All of us were frantically paddling towards the beach. I got up on my knees to get my legs out of the water, and a shark longer than my 9-foot board passed right along side of me. He turned his head with his mouth open and I could see the large teeth. It was absolutely terrifying. The shark had bumped into my friend’s board and knocked him off. Then the shark returned, and bit my board in half, causing me to go into the water. He then bit my leg, and in an instant, pulled me down under the water. You can imagine the immense fear I felt at that moment. I don’t think there is anything more terrifying than that in life but the fear I felt at that moment paled in comparison to the fear I felt in hell.

Psalms 73:18-19 says, “You cast them down into destruction, where they are utterly consumed with terror.”

God in His goodness spared me from the shark and, by a miracle I didn’t have a mark on my leg. That’s impossible without God intervening. My point is that the fear in hell is so all encompassing because it’s coming at you from every way possible. It’s coming from the intense darkness, the loud screams of thousands of people, and the enormous demons tormenting you. They have great strength, and you have none. Add to that the raging flames and burning heat, the foul putrid air, the lack of oxygen and panic you feel to get a breath, the extreme thirst, hunger, loneliness and isolation, and the maggots crawling all over and eating your flesh. The worst part is the knowledge that you can never escape, and the pain will never end. Our minds can’t even imagine this level of fear. It’s far beyond your worst nightmare.

The fear I felt from the shark attack only lasted for seconds. The fear in hell is forever. Do you really want to take a chance with your eternity and reject Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? Is Jesus telling you the truth? Is there a real hell, or is He lying? I don’t think you believe that Jesus would lie about anything. He loves us and proved it by dying on a cross for our sins. He rose from the dead to prove who He said He was…the Son of the living God. He also told us He was the only way to heaven.

God gave me a vision where I spent 23 minutes in hell in order to point people to the Scriptures about this place of torment so they might believe. He doesn’t want you to go to hell, but it is not His decision. It’s yours.
