How People Yield To Demons

Many people who are influenced by demons are not aware, or do not even believe in the demonic realm. In addition, most do not realize the subtle way that demonic powers work. The Bible tells us Satan can transform himself into an angel of light. This means what is dark and demonic may appear fun, good and harmless. In other words, it is a lie.

For instance, many people promote and support witchcraft books for children. After all they seem harmless with fun spells and activities. However, this opens the door for the devil to start his deception. Many people also buy and play demonic video games, watch demonic movies, and celebrate Halloween. All these activities give demons permission to invade your life.

You might think, “What’s wrong with celebrating Halloween?” Most people don’t know it is a high satanic day, and those involved in occult activities conduct animal and even human sacrifices all over the world. People ignorantly participate in séances, Ouija boards, tarot cards and casting spells. It is a day that is celebrated with pumpkins, scary costumes, and candy but do not be fooled. This celebration invites evil into a household.

In addition to the influence of the demonic, the Bible tells us that a person is drawn away or deceived by lust and pride. One example is when a married man spends too much time with a female colleague in the workplace. A married man should always avoid being alone with another woman. A married woman could fall into the same trap with a male colleague at work.

James 1:13-15, “But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.  Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.”

1 John 2:16, “For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.”

Mark 7:21-22, “For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, and foolishness.”

We see that most of the time, it is not the devil, but a person is drawn away because of his or her evil heart.

Jeremiah 17:9, “The heart is deceitful above all things,
And desperately wicked; Who can know it?”

Once a person entertains sin, it is a slippery slope, and the compromise progresses. The sin becomes habitual, and demons are there to drive the person further into darkness. An evil spirit also speaks into a person’s ear and entices them with continual thoughts of their sinful desires.

1 Timothy 3:6, “Lest being puffed up with pride he fall into the same condemnation as the devil.”

The Bible instructs us to guard our eyes from what we see, and our ears from what we hear (John 12:40; Luke 8:18).

The eyes and ears are portals where the demonic can gain entrance into our lives. David said in Psalms 119:11, “Your word I have hid in my heart, That I might not sin against You.”

The more of God’s word in our heart, the less we will sin.

2 Timothy 2:26,  “…in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him at his will.”

Notice that when a person opposes the word of God, and refuses to repent of their sin, they are taken captive by the devil at his will. This person doesn’t even know that they are a pawn for the devil.

These few verses instruct us on how to resist the devil and cause him to leave our life:

  • James 4:7, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
  • 1 Peter 5:8, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour. He can’t devour everyone.
  • Ephesians 6:11, “Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.”

When the devil tempted Jesus three times in the wilderness, Jesus quoted God’s word to combat these temptations. Then the devil fled. We must have the word in our heart so we are able to command the devil to leave us. If we don’t know what the Bible says, we won’t speak it, and he won’t flee. Our victory starts by submitting to God with a repentant heart.

Are YOU willing to change, cleanse your life of darkness, and stay far away from what God calls evil?
