"God Knows My Heart" Doesn't Justify Sin

People use the line, “But God knows my heart,” when they want to justify the following:

They want to justify their actions.
They want to excuse their sin and lack of repentance.
They are comparing themselves to others.
They do not think they deserve to go to hell.

You will hear people make the excuse, “God knows I meant well.” Yes, He does know our hearts. And that makes it even worse!

Let us look at what our hearts are really like without Christ’s forgiveness.

Jeremiah 17:9 states, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it?” Proverbs 28:26 says, “He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool.”

God knowing our heart will not help us. The Bible also mentions that we can have a heart:

that is perverse (Psalm 101:4),

that errs (Psalm 95:10),

that imagines mischief (Psalm 14:2),

that is proud (Psalm 101:5),

that utters perverse or untrue things (Proverbs 23:33),

that is desolate (Psalm 143:4),

that holds within it the seven abominations (Proverbs 26:25),

that devises wicked imaginations (Proverbs 14:10),

that carries reproach (Job 27:6),

that Satan can fill (Acts 5:3),

that is secretly enticed (Job 31:27),

and that can walk after our eyes (Job 31:7).

Ecclesiastes 9:3 says, “The hearts of the sons of men are full of evil; and madness is in their hearts.” God’s opinion of our heart is quite different from our own. We think we are pretty good, and God states that “madness” is in our hearts. The reason is that the natural man without God in his heart is opposed to God’s ways.

Romans 3:12 states, “There is none that doeth good.”

Proverbs 20:9 says, “Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?”

Psalm 143:2 also says, “In thy sight shall no man living be justified.”

God still loves us despite knowing our hearts.

It takes humility to avoid hell. If we continue to justify our thoughts, intents, and behavior, we will never humble ourselves before our Creator.

We will die in our sins, which have not been forgiven, and send ourselves to an eternal hell.

Living a life where we think we can “ride the fence” or refrain from making a real, genuine commitment to receive the Lord Jesus Christ will lead us to hell.

Hell is not a fake concept, it is not a place where you will party with your friends, and it is not a place you can earn your escape. When you die, you will not cease to exist. You are an eternal being, and you have free will.

Stop justifying yourself as being good enough for heaven. You know deep down inside that you are not good, and you must give an account for your life to God. Stop running from God.

Today is the day of salvation. Turn to Jesus Christ while you still have breath in your lungs.
