A Profound Insight from God
I just want to take a moment and share a short, but profound thought that God has shared with me in my 45 years as a Christian. I’ve learned to be quick to forgive, quick to repent and quick to obey. These three things are so important with God.
Why should we be quick? First of all, God forgave us of a lot, so we should be quick to forgive others of their wrong doings toward us. Also, in 2 Corinthians 2:10-11 it says to forgive anything, lest Satan should get an advantage over us. We don’t want Satan to get that advantage.
Also, as far as repenting, Acts 17: 30 says, “God commands all men everywhere to repent.” Jesus said in Luke 13:3, “Unless a man repent, you shall all likewise perish.” We have to be quick to repent of our sins and ask God to forgive us.
We must also be quick to obey. In John 14:15 Jesus said, “If you love me, keep my commandments.” Also it says in Acts 5:29, “We ought to obey God rather than man.” We need to be quick to obey God and not delay. Solomon said something similar in Ecclesiastes 12:13. He looked back at life and summed it all up in one statement. He said, “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter. Fear God and keep His commandments for this is the whole duty of man.”
I believe if we fear God and keep His commandments then we will be quick to forgive, quick to repent and quick to obey. If you can live by these three things you’ll avoid a lot of problems and you will do well with God.
