A Christmas Gift

This Christmas season I’m giving you the gift of truth. You can attend church, know the details of Christianity, and even recite from the Bible but that doesn’t mean you are truly saved. Faith and salvation don’t just “rub off” on you. You must make an intentional decision to respond to God when He is speaking to your heart. You must choose to make a commitment to Jesus Christ and surrender your life to His leading. You must also commit to your spiritual growth so you can overcome temptation and sin, and live as a victorious believer.

If you continue to entertain the things and people in your life that are enemies of God, you’ll become lost, hardened, and empty like them. It’s very dangerous to reject the truth over and over again. Jesus said He is the way, the truth and the life and that no one comes to the Father (or goes to heaven) except through Him. Every time you reject God, your heart grows harder and it becomes more difficult to reach you. If you keep pushing Jesus away, there will come a day when all His protection is removed from your life. If you have a born again Christian parent, relative or friend praying for you, you should be extremely grateful. They may be the only reason you are still alive, and have not ended up in hell. I’m serious! You are protected only because someone is praying for you. If you have no one praying, you have no protection from evil spirits. Jesus said that Satan comes to kill, steal and destroy. Jesus then said that He came to give you abundant life. There is only one way to have eternal life and enjoy real peace and joy — and that is through faith in Jesus Christ alone for your salvation.

When you reject or ignore what Jesus did for you on the Cross, your sin remains. Your sin can only be cleansed away by the blood of Jesus, not by your good works or by being a pretty good person. God is perfect and heaven is perfect. None of us can be let into heaven the way we are because we would corrupt it with our sinful nature just as we have corrupted the earth. When you trust in Jesus, He gives you a new heart and a new nature. You become alive to God and you’ll desire to change the way you live. No one will force you to change. You’ll want to change because the Holy Spirit is now living inside you. But you must believe with your heart that Jesus died for your sin; that He was buried, that He rose from the dead, and from your own heart you sincerely trust your life to Him.  You must ask Him to be your Lord and Savior. It takes a purposeful act on your part.

If you choose to believe lies and reject God, just know that you could die unexpectedly and end up in hell forever. There are no second chances. Hell is a real place of torment, darkness, burning fire and extreme terror for all eternity. You will exist forever because you are made in God’s image. You are more than this temporary aging body. You are a spirit with a mind, will and emotions. This is the real you.

Psalms 14:1 states, “The fool has said in his heart, ‘There is no God.’” Just because a person says, “I don’t believe God exists” doesn’t make it true. God says this person is a fool.

Romans 1:20 says, “For since the creation of the world (God’s) invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse.

All of the universe, the stars, the planets, the animal kingdom, the human body, and the birth of a baby are complex in design and shouting that there is a Creator who made all this! You’ll have no excuse after you die.

Contempt, disrespect and mockery of God and the Bible could be opening the door to demonic spirits that can’t wait to take you out. Playing with sin is only fun for a short time. Your sin, which may seem fun, is leading you straight into demonic bondage, emptiness, and an eternity in hell.

Romans 6:16 says, “Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living.” People get angry and fight for their sinful lifestyle yet in reality, they are a slave to their sin and live with no real hope in this world.

What I’m sharing with you is the truth. Truth is not relative. People have the freedom to believe whatever they want – but that doesn’t make it true. The good news is you can choose to be the wise person right now. You can humble yourself before God and ask Him to forgive you. You can’t clean yourself up on your own. God just wants you to come to Him. He will clean you up. Jesus died a horrific death on the Cross because He loves you and wants you to be in His family for all eternity. He is God Almighty and He humbled Himself to be born a vulnerable, human baby. He grew up here on the earth tempted with all the same things we are tempted with but He never sinned. He healed the sick, the blind, and the lame and cast out demons. He healed people’s mental illness and set them free from sin and all of its effects. He conquered death and rose from the dead appearing to over 500 witnesses as well as his disciples and followers multiple times. He was the perfect, sinless sacrifice dying on the Cross in our place, for our sin. His sinless blood is what cleanses us of all sin.

There is no other remedy to break the power of sin over your life. No religious leader rose from the dead and conquered death, hell and the grave. Jesus is waiting on you to turn your heart to Him. You could have the greatest gift this Christmas season – the gift of eternal life, lasting peace and joy by receiving Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.
