Will God Provide My Needs?
In these unprecedented times, many are dealing with financial pressure.
This is a time for us to put our trust and faith in Jesus Christ. He is God Almighty, and real security is found in a relationship with Him. Let’s turn our attention to what God tells us in His Word, and know that He is faithful to provide for us, and for our families.
Jesus said in Matthew chapter 6, “…I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?
Jesus continues, “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
(We should not worry! In fact, we know that fear and worry actually suppresses our immune system and harms our body!)
Psalm 37:25
I have never seen the Lord forsake a man who loves him; nor have I seen the children of the godly go hungry.
Psalm 37:19
He cares for them when times are hard; even in famine, they will have enough
Phil. 4:19
And it is he who will supply all your needs from his riches in glory because of what Christ Jesus has done for us.
I encourage you to feed on the many life-giving promises in His Word.
I want to share a short story with you. Years ago, I went through a one- year period where I made no money. I used up all my savings and I charged up all my credit cards. I had no food or money in the house. I found all the change I had, which was about $50, and felt the Lord say to me, “Take it and go buy food for the poor.” So I did. I spent it on food and gave it to the poor.
The next day I was in my home praying. I really needed food and as I was praying, someone knocked on my door. It was my neighbors from about five doors down. I had never met them before, but I’d seen the husband drive by. I opened my door and they said, “Listen, we just got transferred to Europe this morning. We have to leave, and last night we went out and we spent $500 on groceries. We bought all healthy, organic food, and we just don’t want it to go to waste. Would you be interested in taking this food?” I said, “Sure, I’ll take it.” Why did they come and pick my house? I didn’t know them, but God sent them to my house. I gave $50 the day before, and I got $500 worth of food the next day.
The Lord is so faithful in all things. If you’re looking for a job, He will give you favor and open up an opportunity for you to work. If you need help, He will provide unexpected avenues, or people to meet your needs. Speak His Word over your situation. Choose to speak faith, not fear.
1 Samuel 2:26
And the child Samuel grew in stature, and in favor both with the Lord and men.
Psalm 5:12
For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous;
With favor You will surround him as with a shield.
God is abundant in mercy and ready to forgive our sins, shortcomings and failures. Call on Him with a sincere heart and He will answer you in the midst of fear and confusion. God is not limited in how He will bring us provision in the midst of this storm.
Our part is to take time reading and speaking His Word to get it into our heart and displace the fear that is so prevalent. I encourage you to start today.
