Did God Send The Virus?
Did God Send The Virus?
I ask you to pray with a humble heart asking God to bring light to you from His Word on this topic. Please be patient and hear the entire message.
It seems apparent that God is in the shaking that is happening all over the world. As believers, we can all agree that we are in the last days.
In Matthew 24 Jesus said – famines, pestilences, earthquakes, deception and lawlessness would all increase. God is calling everyone everywhere to REPENT and turn to Him
God is calling His Church to REPENT. God tells believers in 1 Peter 4:17 that judgment begins with the household of God. It is the Church that needs to repent as He said in Revelation 2-3 and 2 Chronicles 7:14. God has our attention now because of the virus, but He is not the One who is the author of it. This is a time to examine ourselves, and our priorities, and put GOD FIRST.
We are now living in the New Testament. As believers, we have a better covenant. God has not changed, but how He deals with man has changed because Jesus took our sin and sickness on the Cross. In the New Testament, God never afflicted people with sickness and disease.
Jesus healed them all! He especially doesn’t afflict or chastise His own children with sickness. We must understand where the virus originates – the devil, not God. Remember, Jesus went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed by the devil as it states in Acts 10:38.
If God is now the One putting sickness on people, then He is operating as a house divided. Jesus said a house divided cannot stand. This does not mean God has turned a blind eye to all the sin in our land, as He hates the sin. God hates sin because it hurts us. It doesn’t mean He cannot deal with individuals severely, as He did with Ananias & Saphira. All God has to do is remove His hand of protection and the enemy comes in like a flood. Sin in the land will cause Him to withdraw his protection.
Proverbs 13:21 says that evil pursues sinners. Evil will occur in our land because the earth is under a curse, and it rebels against the sin. My purpose here is to point out that God is not the author of sickness, disease and evil: He is in the shaking, but he is not causing or bringing the sickness.
Jesus said in John 10:10, The thief comes to kill, steal and destroy, but I have come that you might have life, and have it more abundantly.
Luke 9:56 Jesus came not to destroy men’s lives but to save them.
1 John 3:8 For this purpose the Son of God was manifested that he might destroy the work of the devil.
Luke 13:16, The woman bowed over, whom Satan had bound was loosed. Evil also occurs because Man chooses to harm his fellow man.
In addition 2 Corinthians 4:4 states, Satan is the god of this world.
Also, Spiritual Laws operate – The Law of Sin and Death, Law of Sowing & reaping…
These laws are not personal. They operate automatically. If we violate spiritual and/or natural laws, there are consequences.
Also, the Curse in the Earth is operating – We live in sin-filled and fallen world.
In the Old Testament, God sent plagues and destruction to punish sin. He poured out His wrath. God poured out His wrath because of Israel’s sin and worshiping false god’s. In the New Testament God poured out His wrath for our sins on Jesus. Jesus took the wrath of God for us.
Even in the Old Testament, God is merciful. In Genesis 18:23-25 (referring to Sodom & Gomorrah) Abraham said to God, “Would you destroy the righteous with the wicked? …Far be it from You to do such a thing as this, to slay the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous should be as the wicked; far be it from You! Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?” In other words, killing God’s people along with the wicked would be wrong.
And He would not have destroyed the city it if there were only 10 righteous people.
There are more than 10 committed Christians in most nations today.
The plagues of Egypt did not harm God’s people. The current virus is afflicting everyone including Christians. When Moses prayed, the plague stopped. Again, we need to pray!
The Blood on the doorposts stopped the plague. This is representative of the power in the Blood of Jesus. Jesus was the Lamb that was slain on the Cross, for our sin, to stop God’s judgment on us when we trust in Him alone for salvation. It’s interesting that there are no plagues in the New Testament except for the Tribulation period.
We are not in that period.
For the most part, God has reserved His wrath for the future The Tribulation/Judgment Day
2 Peter 2:9, The Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptation, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished.
Romans 2:5, The unrepentant stores up wrath for the Day of Wrath. (Great White Throne Judgment).
Romans 9:22-23 These scriptures indicate God’s patience with sinners.
Matthew 25:32, Jesus said that when the Son of man shall come in his glory, before him shall be gathered all nations and he shall separate them one from another and shall set the sheep on his right hand but the goats on the left.
This virus is on all nations, so the time to judge and pour out wrath on the nations has not come yet.
Some of you are thinking that God is allowing it and He could have stopped it. God is in control. If that’s true, and God is in control of everything, then God is behind such suffering such as child abuse, murders, human trafficking, and all sorts of evil according to that thinking. No, of course not. Could we be praying un-scripturally at times thinking everything is God’s will?
One of the main reasons the world is a mess is because Christians don’t pray.
Matthew 6:10, Jesus said to pray God’s will be done on earth as in heaven – it is not automatic! Otherwise, why would He tell us to pray?
In Luke 6:35 Jesus said God is kind to the unthankful and evil.
In Matthew 5:45, Jesus said He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
God will cause this virus to bring about good, but that doesn’t mean He is the one who sent it. He is not the killer or the one who makes people sick. Satan does that. If you think God sent this virus, then you would NOT pray against it. Many people have died, and others have lost their jobs. We are to resist the devil and pray for this to end. Our President declared a National day of prayer just recently and called on God’s mercy to help us out of this crisis. When the leader and the people pray, God will get involved and deliver us.
In summary, this is a time to re-examine our lives and our priorities
Is God first in our lives?
What idols are first in our lives? (Sports, Entertainment, Money?)
This is a time to turn away from our sin and turn back to God.
It’s a time to gain an eternal perspective.
You might not die of this virus, but one day you will die. Where will you go?
I encourage you to call out on Jesus for forgiveness today.
