Your Thoughts Can Lead You To Hell

People are deceived when they reject the truth. This can apply to any area of life, however the most important area to believe and act upon is spiritual truth. If you base your eternity on simply your opinion, what is your belief founded upon: What your friends or family believe? What your education or today’s culture claims is truth? If so, you could be on the wrong road.
What you believe about Jesus Christ is critical because it determines your eternity. Your beliefs all begin with thoughts. Many say, “I don’t believe Jesus is the only way to heaven” or “Jesus was just a good teacher” or “I don’t believe the Bible” or “I believe all roads lead to heaven.” They say, “I believe that I’ll just cease to exist when I die.” These statements began with thoughts in the mind. When thoughts are believed, they go into the heart and are eventually spoken and acted upon.
Jesus said out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks so the person’s words send them to hell. God is not sending them. They send themselves. In Matthew 12:37, Jesus said, “For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” When you embrace a lie, it goes into your heart. Eventually you will speak and act upon that lie.
In Matthew 15:19, Jesus said, “For out of the heart proceeds evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, and blasphemies.”
With the overwhelming evidence of design in all of creation, Romans 1:28-31 warns us that if we reject the obvious truth that God is our Creator, God will abandon those people to their foolish and evil thoughts. The rejection of God begins with a thought that perhaps people receive while in school. In general, most people think they are pretty good and deserving of heaven. They ignore God their entire lives and still they don’t think they will end up in hell when they die. Then one day their life ends, and it may end suddenly. They descend into hell, shocked and terrified, yet this was the result of their ungodly thinking, embracing lies instead of truth, and a lack of interest in knowing God.
Jesus warns us if we don’t put our trust in Him, we will be judged by our thoughts, attitudes, motives and actions. If we think we’re good enough to appear guiltless before Him on Judgment Day, we’re in for a rude awakening. God says we are all guilty and that there is no one who is good. We are all born in sin and are therefore already condemned before a Holy God, according to John 3:18.
Jesus came to cleanse us of all sin with His blood, which He shed on the Cross. He took God’s judgment of sin upon Himself. When we put our faith in what He accomplished for us, He gives us His righteousness or right-standing with a Holy God. He made a way of reconciliation with our Creator because our sin separates us from a relationship with Him.
Most people don’t think about their afterlife or that they are only one breath away from hell. In Matthew 7 Jesus told us that most people are on the road to hell.
Romans 10:9-10 states, “That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto right.”
When a person chooses to believe in Jesus Christ, they had to change their thinking which resulted in corresponding action. They were on the road to hell but chose to put their faith in Jesus Christ and receive eternal life. I would urge you to carefully consider your thoughts.
