Did Jesus Use Greek Mythology? - Soul Choice Ministries

Greek mythology didn’t come into light until approximately 900 B.C. In the book of Job, which is considered the oldest book in the Bible, he wrote of hell in many verses, such as Job 11:18 and 18:15. This book was written in 1520 B.C. Moses wrote of hell in Deuteronomy 32:22 and Numbers 16:32-33 and elsewhere. Deuteronomy was written in 1451 BC.

Did you also know that 23 of the authors of the Bible also mention hell? Jesus didn’t teach Greek mythology. He is the one who prepared hell for the devil and his angels shortly after the Creation (Matthew 25:41; 1 John 3:8; Colossians 1:16; Revelation 4:11). This was approximately 4,000 B.C. God prepared hell long before Greek Mythology existed. Jesus also referenced hell in 46 separate verses, and there are at least 150 more verses in the Bible about hell.

Greek mythology is a deception. It does mention an underworld with one of their gods, who is Hades, ruling over it. It also describes it as dark and dreary. However, it does not state that all people will go there who do not repent and do not acknowledge that Jesus is God, and declare Him their Lord and Savior. The reality is that hell is much worse than Greek mythology depicts.

Zephaniah1:14-15, “There will be a judgment day, and it will be terrifying for those who rejected Jesus.”

The great day of the Lord is near. The mighty man shall cry there bitterly. That day is a day of wrath, trouble, distress, wasteness and desolation.”

Listen to what the wisest man who ever lived besides Jesus, King Solomon said:

Proverbs 14:12, “There is a way that seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”

Proverbs 15:24, “The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath.”

Proverbs 27:12 says, “A prudent man foresees evil and hides himself; The simple pass on and are punished.”
