Why You Must Be Ready To Meet Jesus - Soul Choice Ministries

There is no more important issue to settle in your life than if you are ready to meet Jesus. How could anyone deny the days we are living in? How can anyone ignore the signs of unrest, war and deception? The last words Jesus said to me in my 23 Minutes In Hell vision were, “Tell them I am coming very, very soon.” He repeated Himself and said again, “Tell them I am coming very, very soon.”

The Bible is clear that Jesus is coming back to rapture the believers, bring judgment upon the wicked, and then rule and reign on the earth. Whatever we may believe about the timing of the rapture is not as important as if we are ready for His return.

The Bible repeatedly describes Jesus coming back as a thief in the night or unexpectedly. Does that description sound like you will have time to decide then?

2 Peter 3:10 says, “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.”

1 Thessalonians 5:2, “For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night.”

The two previous verses also refer to the day of the Lord. Bible teacher Hal Lindsey explains what the phrase “the day of Lord” means:

“People often confuse “the day of the Lord” and “the rapture.” A study of the day of the Lord in both the New and Old Testaments shows that it is not a single day, but an epoch (or a period of time). It begins at the beginning of the seven years of tribulation (also known as “Daniel’s 70th week”). It ends at the end of the millennium. But the rapture happens before the day of the Lord.”

About Jesus coming back unexpectedly, in Revelation 3:3 Jesus is warning the dead church – Sardis, “Go back to what you heard and believed at first; hold to it firmly. Repent and turn to me again. If you don’t wake up, I will come to you suddenly, as unexpected as a thief.”

In Revelation 16:15 He says, “Look, I will come as unexpectedly as a thief! Blessed are all who are watching for me, who keep their clothing ready so they will not have to walk around naked and ashamed.”

Staying clothed, in a spiritual sense, means Christians must stay in relationship with God, and live godly, moral lives (Ephesians 5:8; 1 John 2:28).

In Revelation 3:15-19 Jesus calls the Laodicean church poor and blind and naked even though they think they are rich, in need of nothing. He instructs them to buy white garments from Him so they will not be shamed by their nakedness. Jesus goes on to tell them, “turn from your indifference and become enthusiastic about the things of God.” In other words, be zealous and repent.

The bottom line is if we don’t obey God’s Word, we are deceived. Today more than ever you MUST store up God’s Word to discern the times and combat lies.

In Matthew 22:1-14, the Parable of the Wedding Feast, it’s interesting that a man was at the feast who had on offensive garments or wasn’t wearing the proper clothes. He wore his own “filthy rags” or was wearing his own “self-righteousness” thinking he could get into heaven. He was quickly ejected from the feast and cast into outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Our own good works will not gain us entrance into heaven.

Matthew 25:1:13 tells of the ten foolish virgins. It says, “the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept.”

Verses 10-13 read, “and while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut. Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’ Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.”

50% were left behind…but all of them thought they were going!

That goes along with Matthew 24:40-4 where two men were in the field; one will be taken and one will be left. Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one will be left. Again, 50% will be left behind!

The question to ask your self is “Am I ready to meet Jesus?”
