Are We Believing Lies?
Are We Believing Lies?
2 Corinthians 4:4 states that Satan is the god of this world. It goes on to say, For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.
The enemy doesn’t reveal himself as bold, brash, and blowing smoke from his nostrils. His primary weapon is subtle deception. He comes at us with carefully crafted arguments that stir up our emotions. He often mixes a little truth into the lies he promotes, causing us to question our God given instinct. He comes back again and again until we are offended and angry. He knows an offended person has compromised judgment.
When he strikes at our ability to judge properly, we are no longer able to discern wisely. In our current day, the #1 tool of the enemy is the media. There is no doubt the media has become the most powerful vehicle of lies, evil, and confusion of our time. Why? Because when you control the narrative, you control and deceive the people. If you disagree with them, you are ridiculed, hated and slandered. THEY have become the keepers of twisted morality, and truth.
For the Christian, this is a time for self-examination in the light of God’s Word. So many are being led by feelings instead of Godly discernment concerning the events in this nation. We must stop and question the information being planted into our hearts and minds. We must each investigate the other side of the story. We cannot place opinion above seeking the biblical truth.
The wicked make statements that sound compassionate, championing equality, and for the down trodden. In reality, they are ravenous wolves in sheep’s clothing. Romans 16:18 says, By their smooth words and flattering speech they deceive the hearts of the simple. This is not jus a reference to false teachers. We see this behavior form politicians, media personalities and people from all areas of society.
As Colossians 2:4 says, “I am telling you this so no one will deceive you with well-crafted arguments.”
Hebrews 5:14 states, “But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.”
Jesus warned us in Matthew 24:4, Take heed that no one deceives you. This warning is repeated numerous times throughout the Bible including these verses: 1 Corinthians 3:18; Galatians 6:7; Colossians 2:8; 2 Thessalonians 2:3; 2 Timothy 3:13; Titus 1:10, James 1:26 and more.
If we are moved by our feelings and feed on lies, how will we discern the truth when more birth pains come upon the earth? We have experienced two major birth pains this year: the virus and now the election. Future birth pains will most likely become more intense and closer together. Jesus also said in Matthew 16:3, You cannot discern the signs of the times.
I charge you to go before the Lord with a teachable heart and ask Him to show you the truth about what is really happening in our nation and in our world.
Ask yourself, Have I been siding with evil? Do I really want to know the truth? Am I offended? Has my heart been hardened and my love grown cold? Am I ignoring the signs of the last days when I should be clinging to God’s truth?
