Did Jesus Talk About Hell?

Jesus said, “Where their worm dies not and the fire is not quenched; where they’re cast into outer darkness, where there’s weeping and gnashing of teeth.” He mentioned everlasting fire, everlasting damnation and everlasting punishment. There are at least 150 verses in the Bible that talk about hell. These verses were spoken by Jesus himself:

Eternal Punishment

In Matthew 25:46 Jesus said, “And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous, into eternal life.” The word for everlasting and eternal are the same word, aionios. So just as heaven is a location and is everlasting, so is hell.

Jesus said in Matthew 13:41 and 42, “The angels shall gather them, which do iniquity, and shall cast them into a furnace of fire. There shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.”

In Luke 12:46 Jesus mentioned the servant; “he will cut him in pieces and appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.”

Jesus said in Luke 12:4-5, “Be not afraid of them that kill the body and after that, have no more they can do, but I will forewarn you whom you shall fear. Fear him, which after he is killed, has power to cast into hell. Yea, fear him.” His statement is clear that there is something which lies ahead that is worse than dying physically.

Jesus said in Matthew 24:51, “The Lord shall cut him in pieces and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

Mark 9:47 Jesus said, “If thy eye offend the, pluck it out. It’s better for you to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire, where their worm dies not and the fire is not quenched.”

Hell Is Real

If there is no hell, then why did Jesus Christ die a horrific death on the cross, according to the scriptures, and rise from the dead? To save us from what? Yes, Jesus talked about hell. He warned us about the afterlife because He loves us. We must turn from our stubborn pride and sin, acknowledge our need for forgiveness, and receive Him as our Lord and Savior or we will end up in hell.

Will you believe what Jesus said?
